9th Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festivaldays

20 and 26 of july of 2007
The 9th Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festival happened among the days 20 and 26 of july of 2007, with great success of public and critics.

The Humberto Mauro Cinema, the João Ceschiatti Theatre, the Videoteca (Video Library), the Workshop and the Lectures included the presence of more than 15.000 people, interested in learning and thinking the world production of short films.

The COMPETITIVE EXHIBITIONS received 1.196 submissions of films, produced in 46 countries (South Africa, Germany, Argentine, Aruba, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, South Korea, Croatia, Cuba, Denmark, Spain, United States, Estonia, Philippines, Finland, France, Great Britain, Greece, Netherlands, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Kenya, Czech Republic, Romania, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Uruguay e Venezuela). Of this total, 235 are productions of Minas Gerais.

ITINERANT PROGRAM

The ITINERANT PROGRAM began in august of 2007, offered workshops, and presented, exhibitions with the best films of the ninth edition in the cities of Miraí, Varginha, Muriaé, Piacatuba and Cataguases.

The workshops of Audiovisual Production, offered in Mirai, Varginha and Cataguases resulted in the production of three documentaries: “Crossing”(directed by Marcos Pimentel), “For where I came, From where will I?” (directed by Geraldo Veloso) and “Conductor Wire” (directed by Fábio Carvalho), and also integrates the project A PRIVATE LOOK (a partnership of the Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festival, with the Humberto Mauro Institute, the Associação Mineira de Cineastas and, the Cultural Contact).

FIRST SEMESTER OF 2008

In the first semester of 2008, the cities of SÃO SEBASTIÃO DO PARAÍSO, GUAXUPÉ, IPATINGA, CORONEL FABRICIANO and CONTAGEM also will receive the ITINERANT PROGRAM, with the best films exhibited in the ninth edition of the Festival.
