6th Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festival

On the 22nd – 31st of July 2004, The 6th Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festival reunited more than 15 thousand people. More than 300 short film productions produced in Brazil and in 39 other countries in the world were exhibited in 119 cinema and video sessions shown in Cine Humberto Mauro and in João Ceschiatti Theater in Palácio das Artes, in SESC/MG – Laces/JK, in the Belo Horizonte cultural center in five Cultural Regions located around the City Hall.

The Brazilian Competitive Shows exhibited 41 shorts, coming from seven Brazilian states. The International Competitive Shows had the participation of 38 short films originated from 20 countries.

Beside the Competitions, the Festival also exhibited various Special Programs. Retrospective Shows focused on the Brazilian filmmakers work, like Elyseu Visconti Cavalleiro, Carlos Adriano and José Eduardo Belmonte or producers from Minas Gerais state like the “Grupo Novo de Cinema e TV” and “Emvideo”. Animations, premium shorts in the Huesca Festival in Spain, and the production of short films from countries like Portugal, Argentina, Germany and from the African continent were also the theme of Special Programs.

The Festival also inaugurated sessions with other production types of short films like publicity films and “Videoclips”. Other programs that were inaugurated in the 6th edition were “Dance Video” and “Releases”. Something different from the 6th edition of the Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festival was the exhibition of productions done in video.

In the Video Library of the Festival, the public can watch videos of all the shorts that were entered in the competitive shows in booths that support up to two people. During the nine day event around 900 people watched approximately 1.200 shorts.
Almost 500 people participated in two workshops, eight meetings and nine seminars provided by the Festival.
